St. Margaret Mary Catholic School 5K Run/Walk and Kids Dash Presented by Kopf Running:
Join us as Kopf Running presents the 2nd Annual St. Margaret Mary Catholic School 5K & Kids Dash IN-PERSON on Saturday, May 7th. Can't join us for the in-person event? Sign up for the virtual event instead and complete the distance anytime between Sunday, May 1st and Sunday, May 8th, 2022 and upload your results and photos on this website by May 8th. All proceeds from race registration fees support our school’s Athletic Department! We are also collecting additional monetary donations which go directly to STMM Athletics! Simply click the Donate button above, or fill in a donation amount during your registration. Pass along to friends, family, and co-workers! We are trying to raise $15,000!

Timing, Age Groups, & Awards
J3 Timing will be on hand to provide finish times to all runners and walkers participating in the 5K!! Please note results are not official until after the event. Prizes will be given to the male and female top 3 in each age division (14 and under, 15-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65 and older) and the overall male and female finishers. The Running Depot will provide a prize to the top overall male and female finishers.
Packet Pick Up
Packet Pick Up Days, Times, and Locations (subject to change and final info will be sent to participants during race week):
- Friday, May 6th – 12-2pm; Location: West doors of St. Margaret Mary Catholic School, 119 S. Hubbard St., Algonquin, IL 60102
- Friday, May 6th – 6-8pm; Location: Circle drive by St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 111 S. Hubbard St., Algonquin, IL 60102
- Saturday, May 7th – 7-8am; Location: Parking lot behind the South doors of St. Margaret Mary Catholic School, 119 S. Hubbard St., Algonquin, IL 60102

- 5K Run/Walk participants must be 5 years or older.
- Kids Dash participants must be 1 year or older.
- All participants under the age of 18 years must have a parent register them via online registration.

]]>Supporting the local community is important to us here at Algonquin Square Apartments, and we like to feature local events that have an impact on the community and the people involved. With so many fun things happening and events around town, choosing one that supports a cause or helps people is a great way to give back and have fun at the same time.
The local daycare Kiddie Academy is hosting a Field Day event benefiting the organization Family Promise.
Not only is Kiddie Academy a daycare, but they offer educational child care to help kids reach a higher potential and grow into outstanding members of the community. Kids learn and grow in their interactive environments with things such as family-style meals, designated learning times, and curriculum focused on the present moment and growth as time goes on. They learn character development, decision making, outdoor play/fitness, communication skills, and much more.
Family Promise has partnered with them to host this special event on November 6th and have a field day for everyone to come and enjoy the outdoors and participate in games and fun.
Family Promise is a national organization with a local community and city-based focus to fight homelessness and create spaces for adults and children. They fight crisis before it happens, and help people secure housing when it does.

]]>Yoga is a great workout and a fantastic way to find some peace of mind and slow down in today’s busy world. Yoga in the park is one of our favorite events because it gets people outside, brings the community together for an uplifting event, and is a free outdoor yoga event.
Saturday mornings are a perfect time for this, ending the week and starting a new one, beginning the weekend with something healthy and uplifting. The summer event goes through August at two different locations within 10-15 minutes of Algonquin Square Apartments here in Algonquin.
Location One – Randall Oaks Park
Where: Randall Oaks Park in the Front Shelter – 1180 N. Randall Rd., West Dundee, IL 60118
When: Saturday, August 14 and Saturday, August 28 from 8 am – 9 am
There will be several types of yoga. Yoga mats are not provided, so please bring your own yoga mat, towel, and water bottle. We recommend not eating within one hour of the class. The event is open to anyone 12 and over and is completely free!
Be sure to check out the Randall Oaks Zoo as well, just north of where the yoga will be held.
Location Two – Sleepy Hollow Pool Side Yard
Where: Sleepy Hollow Pool, Side Yard – 875 Winmoor Dr., Sleepy Hollow, IL 60118
When: Saturday, August 7 and Saturday, August 21 from 8 am – 9 am
There will be several types of yoga. Yoga mats are not provided, so please bring your own yoga mat, towel, and water bottle. We recommend not eating within one hour of the class. The event is open to anyone 12 and over and is completely free!
This location is great because there is also the Jelke Creek Bird Sanctuary and Nature Preserve is just down the road, with miles of nature trails, bird watching, biking trails, and more. The 244 acres contain trees and ponds specifically designed to house different types of birds. These ponds were also part of the water quality improvement grant and allow water to be cleaned as it percolates through gravel beds and native plants into the ground.
